It's almost that time. If you're competing you should have received an email with details on the event, what you need to bring, etc.
If you're just attending, the event starts at 7 p.m. at 2640 Space. You can find more details on the Chilibrew page, but remember that we're also invited to join the after party taking place at Union Craft Brewing — one of our gracious sponsors — in conjunction with Baltimore Bike Party. There are more details on the after party at the BBP site, but the general gist is that $10 gets you a cup to drink Union beers for the whole party.
Hope to see you there to taste some amazing locally brewed beers, and some excellent homemade chili.
This past friday baltibrew sponsored a non-hop gruit ale competition at Liam Flynn's Ale House as part of Baltimore Beer Week. There was a great turnout, and 11 entries from both homebrewers and professionals went head to head in what was truly a unique baltimore beer week event. There was a great turnout and we want to thank everyone who came and supported the event, especially the judges: Liam Flynn, Les White, and Bruce Williams (from Scotland's Williams Brothers Brewing Co.)
Congratulations to the winners (below), and we can't wait to see everyone next year (or this friday at CHILIBREW VI):

Great meeting last night everyone. We had a great turnout of both established and new members and it was great to see. we even got the meeting portion of our night done in 50 minutes (a new record?).
The BIG thing we discussed that needs voting, and discussion on here is if we should hold our November brew at Wootowns Mead Brew on November 3rd (sat). If you didn't know, Wootown is another great homebrew club who does a Mead brew every fall up at one of their members' apiaries in White Hall. Me, Ryan, and Brent have all been multiple times and not only is it great to talk to other members of other clubs, but the scenery/food/drink is top notch.
So, please vote below if you are down with November 3rd in White hall or not. I realize that's a bit of a drive, but it's well worth it once you're there, especially in the fall. Please vote ASAP since Nov. 3rd is right around the corner.
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.ALSO - in the comments, please list what you think we should brew. There was discussion of doing beers for the guild xmas party as well Braggot (since we have access to a lot of honey). Please post your comments below.
We also decided on our xmas guild subcommittee:
Food: Steve Hulbert
Beer: Jon Blair
Decorations: Kristen Filucci
Costumes: Ryan Detter
thanks for volunteering!
Have a safe and great starting weekend to baltimore beer week, and don't forget about our Gruit Competition tomorrow at 5PM at Liams Ale House.
It's the busiest brew month of the year. We get that, and we know that next week is going to destroy most of the remaining livers we collectively possess.
BUT! it's also still regular meeting time for Baltibrew at Dionysus at 8 p.m. tomorrow night and we have a lot of stuff to get worked out. We'll be meeting on the second floor again this month. While there's work to be done, we'll have a ton of homebrew to taste as well.
Agenda:
Baltibrew is sponsoring a no hop gruit competition at Liam Flynn's Ale House to start off baltimore beer week on october 20th. Entries can be submitted as late as one hour before the event.
