Bit late in posting about last week's meeting. We had some website issues, but they are obviously resolve.

We'll get minutes up soon, but for the moment, I wanted to remind club members that the Spring Real Ale Festival is this weekend at Pratt Street Ale House.

Details after the jump.

Additionally, mark your calendars for June 4th's Guild Holiday Picnic and Wheat Beer Comp at Patapsco State Park out on 40.

Our regular meeting falls on June 2nd, and we'll be brewing at John Jester's house on June 25th with Rob Perry from Brewer's Art.

There are still tickets available for the spring real ale fest at Pratt Street Ale House next Saturday (May 14th).

$40 gets you in for 5 hours of unlimited sampling (1pm-6pm) from over 35 casks, which is much cheaper than a 5 hour bar tab would be...

$60 gets you a VIP ticket, which mean you start an hour early with a much smaller crowd, lunch included, and a t-shirt. Steve Jones also announced a special bonus cask from himself and Stillwater that will only be available during the VIP hour.
Black Falls will be playing live during the event.
And here's the list of beers:
  • Evolution Brewing – Lot #6 Double IPA + pin bacon porter (!)
  • DuClaw Brewing Co. – 2010 Devil’s Milk aged in Jack Daniels Whiskey Barrel
  • Oskar Blues – Dale’s Pale Ale dry hopped w/Cascade
  • Oskar Blues – Mamas Little Yella Pils w/ rosehips
  • Oskar Blues – Old Chub w/ coconut
  • Oliver – Hot Monkey Love Batch #2 drawn directly from oak barrel (aged 10 months)
  • Oliver w/ Stillwater – Channel Crossing #4 dry hopped w/ tettnanger
  • Oliver – beaujolais cask “Draft Punk” w/ Juniper & honey (for VIP hour)
  • Oliver – Pagan Porter with vanilla
  • Heavy Seas – Loose Cannon Red, White & Birch (red oak/white oak/birch

3 Lions Winner Announcement Party

It's time to find out how we did with our February brew, a clone of Oliver Ale's 3 Lions Ale. We entered 4 different versions — one each open and closed fermentation of an extract and all-grain clone of Steve Jones' Strong Brown Ale. Our versions turned out pretty nice, here's hoping we get the win with one of our beers.

Party at Pratt Street Ale House starts at 6, with the winner announced around 7. They've know for about two weeks now who won, let's find out ourselves and have a few pints. It's the least we can do to help support local brewpubs that are involved with the homebrew community.

Equipment Build

KeggleBaltibrew will be hosting a club work day to prep new equipment for our April 10th brew day with Brian Strumke. We'll be completing a second 60 quart mash tun, putting together the fittings for two new keggles (keg kettles), and generally getting everything cleaned and prepped for the following week's big event.

Work day starts at 1 p.m. at SoYeahDood HQ, and we should be finished by 6. Come hang out, learn how to build a mash tun, and help us double our brew day capacity.

Bring beer to share, and something to throw on the grill.

  1. Tuesday 2/1 6 p.m. at Pratt St. Ale House — 3 Lions Clone War event.
This was an RSVP event, but I know a number of Baltibrew members inlcuding John Jester, and myself will be in attendance. Hope to see some of the rest of you there.
  2. Thursday 2/3 8 p.m. at Muggsy's in Federal Hill — Regular Monthly meeting.
We'll go over last month's business and prepare for a vote on dues.
  3. Saturday 2/5 after 9 a.m.  Greg Slack's house — February Brew day.
Being that we did not have any other nominations for a brew, we'll be cloning 3 Lions as part of the Clone War competition mentioned above.
Bring something to eat, and beer to share.

Hope to see you all there. If you've got questions, or comments to make, here's your thread.
